The original Jeep vehicle that first appeared as the prototype Bantam BRC became the primary light 4-wheel-drive vehicle of the United States Army and Allies during World War II, as well as the postwar period. Many Jeep variants serving similar military and civilian roles have since been created in other nations. Jeep advertising has always emphasized the vehicle's off-road capabilities. Today, the Wrangler is one of the few remaining four-wheel-drive vehicles with solid front and rear axles. These axles are known for their durability, strength, and articulation.

Used Jeep Wrangler

Few vehicles are better off road than a Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler is offered in the familiar two-door version and a four-door model, known as the Unlimited. The four-door doesn't change the character of the Wrangler but makes it more practical for many. It's much more comfortable and convenient, offering more cargo and rear-seat passenger space. Still, the traditional two-door Wrangler has its charms. The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most capable off-road vehicles available today. Its four-wheel drive system also offers all-weather capability and its convertible body style offers open-air fun.

Used Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers superior off-road capability comparable to that of the upscale Land Rover LR3. This makes the Grand Cherokee a fine choice for families who venture off-road or vacation in the mountains or other remote areas. Its edgy and angular lines make it instantly recognizable as a Jeep. Inside, the atmosphere is light, comfortable, and enveloping, with lots of seat adjustments, and excellent outward vision around relatively slim windshield posts. With nearly 70 cubic feet of cargo space, the Grand Cherokee is useful for hauling whatever a family may need.

Jeep Liberty

The Jeep Liberty is quite capable off road, one of the best in its class, with terrific off-road prowess and bold, upright styling. It's tall and angular, somewhat reminiscent of the much-loved, rugged but crude 1990s Jeep Cherokee. It rides nice and smooth, as well, but maintains the ruggedness for which Jeep is famous. The Jeep Liberty has better off-road capability and more towing capacity than most of its competitors. It offers generous cargo space and a high seating position. But it's heavy for a compact SUV, and it lacks the handling and fuel economy of most of its rivals.
